CMU Approved
Approved: Brodka
By Andy Malt | Published on Wednesday 2 March 2016
Monika Brodka may be a relatively new act to most people in the UK, but in Poland she’s a household name, having released three successful albums. More recently, word of her talents has spread further afield, prompting her to record her first entirely English language album, ‘Clashes’, which will be released through Play It Again Sam on 13 May.
As with her last record – 2010’s excellent ‘Granda’ – she’s taken careful time developing the sound of her fourth album, as can be heard on its first single, ‘Horses’. Recorded with producer Noah Georgeson, the track feels like it’s set in grand surroundings. The drums keep a slow pace, as guitar lines and keyboards dance around each other, chasing Brodka’s intricate vocal melodies.
