Approved: Factory Floor – How You Say (Daniel Avery Remix)

‘How You Say’, the next single taken from Factory Floor’s acclaimed debut album, is released with the usual plethora of remixes, of which Daniel Avery’s eight minute reworking is particularly thrilling.
Minimal in a different way, it improves on the monochrome cold machine electro of the original by adding subtle layers of colour and warmth to hypnotic effect. More deep sleep than deep house, Avery’s mix doesn’t actually do much, but mines a rich melodic vein as it ebbs and flows and throbs with somnambulant bliss, with feedback and disembodied looped vocals drifting in and out that vaguely suggest what Slowdive might have sounded like if they were into progressive house and/or heroin.
