Approved: Girls In Synthesis

Post-punk band Girls In Synthesis have announced that they will release their second album, ‘The Rest Is Distraction’, next month, as well as putting out the latest single from it, ‘My Husband’.
The new track – like previous single ‘Watch With Mother’ – pushes the band’s sound even further than on their 2020 debut, ‘Now Here’s An Echo From Your Future’, upping the intensity both musically and lyrically to new heights.
“I wrote it from the angle of someone living with a physically abusive partner, and the fear, isolation and anxiety they manage daily”, says vocalist John Linger of the new single. “I see this as a key track on the record. The intensity is created through minimalism, rather than full on noise. It’s a hard thing to pull off. And I think we really did”.
Guitarist Jim Cubitt adds: “With the video we really tried to capture the tension that hangs over the song. That isolation and vulnerability, without it being too literal. The subject matter of the song must be treated with respect, and we did that by presenting the viewer with a series of images that frame the outside world that exists alongside their internal, domestic reality”.
‘The Rest Is Distraction’ is set for release on 14 Oct, and the band will be touring the UK the same month – including a show at The Lexington in London on release day.
