Approved: Skott
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 22 September 2016
Following on from her debut single ‘Porcelain’, released in July, Skott returns with the second, ‘Amelia’. And while her catalogue of releases may be small right now, it’s already proving incredibly strong. ‘Amelia’ invites you to make a quick judgement about what kind of song it is, before flipping that on its head a minute in, and adding one further twist before its final notes ring out.
“You’ve had to fight so hard for this love, but it’s not turning out the way you thought”, she says of the song’s meaning. “Is it worth continuing or is this the end? The song’s about not giving up, fighting to keep that special someone next to you despite the hardest of times. I get a bit nostalgic. ‘Amelia’ reminds me of my first love as a young teenager when I’d dream up crazy plans for the future. They weren’t always realistic but they were honest and dramatic”.
You can catch Skott live in London at Notting Hill Arts Club on 28 Oct and then Birthdays in Dalston on 29 Oct. She’ll also be at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris on 26 Oct.
