Bataclan to re-open this year
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 11 February 2016
The Bataclan Theatre in Paris, where 89 people died in a terrorist attack last November, is still hoping to re-open this year, its owners have confirmed, with plans now in place to renovate the space first.
“Today, we’d like to share with you some important news: we have decided to renovate the Bataclan”, said a statement released yesterday. Confirming hopes previously expressed, it added: “We will do everything in our power to host new shows before the end of 2016”.
Exact plans for the venue are not yet clear, however. “We’re still deciding what we’re going to do with the space”, Jérôme Langlet, president of the majority stakeholder in the venue Lagardère Live Entertainment, told the Wall Street Journal. “We’re working on it but we don’t have all the answers”.
