Glastonbury team working on new event, to launch before 2020
By Andy Malt | Published on Wednesday 1 June 2016
Emily Eavis has spent recent weeks attempting to play down rumours, started by her dad, that Glastonbury Festival is coming to an end. Or at least it’s going to be forced to move to a new site. Earlier this month she did reveal plans for the festival’s team to launch a new event in the next few years though. Albeit, slightly vague plans.
“We are going to do a show somewhere else with the same team behind Glastonbury but it hasn’t got a name yet and we’re still not entirely sure what shape it’s going to take”, Emily Eavis told the Guardian in a new interview this week. “For now we’re all [focused] on Worthy Farm. We’re not thinking too far down that road because we’re quite busy with this one at the moment!”
The first outing of the new event will take place “in 2019 or 2018, but probably 2019”, she says. Feel free to start your ‘Glastonbury to shut down in 2020’ rumours now. By the way, the full line-up and stage times for this year’s edition of the DOOMED festival are now available.
