Kanye West tells Apple to “give Jay his check for Tidal now”

Apple and Tidal are “fucking up the music game”, reckons Kanye West. They should stop that, he says. And he’s willing to lend a hand, which is nice of him.
The problem, as West sees it, seems to be that negotiations for Apple to buy Tidal – which have been rumoured for a number of weeks now – aren’t moving as quickly as he would like. West being one of those artist shareholders that Tidal has, he does have a vested interest in this I guess.
“This Tidal/Apple beef is fucking up the music game”, tweeted West on Saturday. “I need Tim Cook, Jay-Z, Dez, Jimmy [Iovine], Larry [Jackson], me and Drake, Scooter [Braun] on the phone or in a room this week!”
“Fuck all this dick swinging contest”, he continued. “We all gon be dead in 100 years. Let the kids have the music. Apple, give Jay his check for Tidal now and stop trying to act like you Steve [Jobs]”.
As well as being a shareholder in Tidal, West of course initially made his latest album ‘The Life Of Pablo’ available as an exclusive on the Jay-Z owned streaming service earlier this year. His decision to then release it more widely is the subject of legal action. Quite silly legal action, granted, but if every single streaming service was to merge, the rapper could do exclusivity deals without worrying about being sued.
“I forgot to add Daniel Ek”, he added yesterday, perhaps suggesting that the everybody-should-just-merge strategy is his favoured approach.
