MIA cries ‘leak’; label sets Matangi release date

Last week, MIA threatened to do a Death Grips/Wiley-style DIY-leak of her new LP ‘Matangi’, having apparently ‘had it’ with the time it’s taking for her label, Interscope, to approve and release it. The singer said back in January that she was having a “last stab” at getting the disc right (in Interscope’s eyes), label reps having barred her first draft on the basis that it was “too positive”.
Tweeting last week, MIA asked who, if anyone “would stop ‘Matangi’ from coming out?”, adding: “If Interscope takes longer I can always leak this next week and make a new one by the time they are ready”.
By chance, Interscope set an official ‘Matangi’ release date of 4 Nov that same day. Strange, that. This is the CMU approved ‘Bring The Noize’:
