The Music Managers Forum has announced the appointment of a new CEO, Annabella Coldrick, who will lead the artist management trade group from 1 Jan next year.

It’s an interesting appointment, in that Coldrick’s background is public affairs, having worked in corporate communication roles at Cadbury and Which?, and in government communications at the Department For Business, Innovation and Skills. She was most recently Director Of Policy And Research at the Design Council. So the hire possibly shows that the MMF wants to increase its voice in government and political circles, to better represent the artist management community amongst law and public policy makers.

Coldrick replaces MMF’s long-time CEO Jon ‘Webbo’ Webster, who has significantly grown both the profile and the activities of the trade group during his eight years leading the organisation. He will continue to work for the MMF on a part-time basis in the new role of President.

Says Webster: “After eight years at the MMF, when we have grown substantially as an organisation, it is time to hand the baton to someone else and I am incredibly happy that we have found Annabella to fulfil that role. The issues facing managers and their artists require an injection of new skills as the legislative process that affects our businesses becomes worldwide following the revolution that the internet has brought”.

Coldrick herself added: “Music production and consumption is fast evolving in the digital age and it is imperative that the voices of managers and artists are heard and actively listened to by governments and the industry. I’m really looking forward to taking up this challenge with Jon and the MMF team, and to use my experience to further enhance MMF’s reputation as a critical partner in this debate”.

Coldrick will report into the Co-Chairs of the MMF, Diane Wagg and Stephen Budd, who said in a joint statement this morning: “Webbo’s eight year tenure has seen a total revamp of the MMF culminating in the publishing of the ‘Dissecting The Digital Dollar’ report. Annabella’s appointment is a step forward to grow the influence of the MMF. We look forward to working together to represent the interests of managers and artists worldwide”.
