Niall Horan recovering from knee surgery
By Andy Malt | Published on Monday 20 January 2014
One Direction’s Niall Horan is recovering from “major” knee surgery, for injuries sustained during a squirrel attack in 2012.
As previously reported, following the original injury, Horan told Capital Radio back in October 2012: “A squirrel attacked me. I got attacked by a squirrel in Battersea Park. They’re dangerous. It’s rare. I’ve torn most of the ligaments in my knee. So no football for me, it’s early retirement now. I’ve got a floating knee cap”.
Renewed chatter about Horan’s knee began when The Sun published a picture of him hobbling about on crutches at Heathrow airport last week.
As a result, he took to Twitter to explain the situation, saying: “Yes I’ve had major knee surgery, a much larger surgery than first anticipated”. And: “But I would like to tell you, it was a complete success! Considering the scale of it!” And: “So all I ask of you guys is that you would respect my privacy as I try to recover and get [ready] for the ‘Where We Are’ tour!”
