Portishead ready to make album four
By CMU Editorial | Published on Thursday 1 July 2010
Portishead have said that they will go into the studio this summer to start work on a new album, a follow up to 2008’s ‘Third’.
That could mean a new long player might be ready by next summer, which would be rather sooner than the eleven year wait fans had for album number three. Speaking to 6music, the band’s Geoff Barrow said this week: “I’m writing for Portishead through July and August. I just want to bang on and get another record done”.
Barrow added that he had a renewed enthusiasm for music making, even though the response to ‘Third’ in the UK wasn’t over-whelming. Barrow: “We did the ‘Third’ record, it did incredibly well. We got very little support from the UK as we don’t represent a certain demographic of people, but we did Coachella [Festival] and that was amazing”.
