Sick Lorde postpones Australian shows
By Aly Barchi | Published on Wednesday 23 April 2014
Poor sweet Lorde has called in sick (on doctors’ advice, I should add) to a forthcoming tour of Australia, which was supposed to start tomorrow in Melbourne, postponing all eight dates till she reaches “full gollum girl fitness” once again.
Tweeting the bad news yesterday, the New Zealand-based singer, real name Ella Yelich O’Connor, said she’d been advised by her parents and team to take a break, and to deal with a “nasty chest infection” and “general ill health”.
An additional note from Frontier Touring quotes O’Connor as saying: “It breaks my heart to have to postpone these shows as the band and I absolutely love playing to Australian crowds, and it was not a decision we made lightly. I know I need to focus on getting better in order to perform at my best. We’ll be with you as soon as we can, Aussies”.
And “soon”, she speculates via Twitter, might be as soon as November, though that’s still TBC. Aaaanyway, ill health or not, Lorde will still be releasing ‘Tennis Court’ as her latest ‘Pure Heroine’ single on 12 May. Let’s re-live the track, shall we?
