Sire Records signs Sugarmen
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 11 August 2016
Following on from the recent signing of The Lottery Winners, Seymour Stein has added another UK band to the Sire Records roster, Liverpool’s Sugarmen, ahead of the label’s 50th anniversary next year.
Speaking about the band, Stein says: “I was blown away when I first saw Sugarmen live, and then again when they opened for The Who and Blur, both at Hyde Park. In May, I saw the band at Liverpool Sound City: They keep getting better and better; the songs, their musicianship and their live performance”.
He went on: “Both bands are perfect additions to the Sire roster. I look forward to working with them and Warner Bros, and having success with The Lottery Winners and Sugarmen as part of Sire’s 50th anniversary in 2017”.
