A$AP Rocky has pleaded not guilty to firearms charges at a court in LA. He is accused of firing twice at former friend Terell Ephron – aka A$AP Relli – during a “heated discussion in Hollywood” last November.

The rapper – real name Rakim Mayers – was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport in April this year in connection with an alleged shooting. Details of that criminal case were not previously made public. However, Ephron identified himself as the alleged victim of the shooting earlier this month when he launched his own civil lawsuit.

Mayers was officially charged with specific firearms offences earlier this week, with Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón saying in a statement: “Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offence that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood”.

“My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case”, he went on, “and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted”.

Mayers is accused of shooting twice at Ephron during their altercation, which Ephron’s lawsuit says left him with a minor injury to his left hand and subsequently resulted in “multiple death threats and irreparable harm to his career in the entertainment industry”.

According to reports, Mayers only spoke in court yesterday to confirm his name and that he had been read his rights.
