Amanda Palmer is planning to release a new solo album, publish an art book and go on tour of Europe and the US, for which she reckons she’ll need $100,000. Having shunned the label system and gone independent back in 2010, Palmer started a campaign to raise the cash via fun funding service Kickstarter.

The deadline for reaching her target was set at 32 days, but when the project went live on Monday, fans stumped up the full $100,000 in just six hours. In fact, within 48 hours she raised almost $350,000 from over 6000 backers. A source told CMU that Palmer is expected to raise $500,000 by the time the funding deadline is reached on 31 May.
