Application deadline for BPI US Sync Mission approaches
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 3 April 2014
If you fancy a jolly to LA under the guise of signing sync deals for your artists, then be aware that you only have until Friday to apply for the BPI, MPA and UKTI’s US Sync Mission.
The tenth annual edition of the event will take reps for record labels and music publishers, plus songwriters, composers, artists and managers over to the US from 2-6 Jun. Meetings and networking sessions will be held with music supervisors and placement executives in the TV, film, advertising and video games markets, and the event will also coincide with the LA Sync Summit.
Looking ahead to the mission, BPI Director of Independent Membership and International Chris Tams said: “Over the last ten years the LA Sync Mission has been responsible for securing placements for British music on award-winning movies and TV shows, creative trailers and popular video games including the movie blockbuster ‘Battleship’, the popular FIFA game and many well-known TV shows including ‘True Blood’, ‘The Tomorrow People’, ‘Modern Family’ and the ‘CSI’ franchises”.
He went on: “The mission provides a real opportunity for those working in all corners of the music industry across the UK to network in Hollywood and talk face-to-face with the people who can place British music on some of the most popular cult TV series and blockbuster movies to come out of the US”.
I’m not sure I’d have mentioned ‘Battleship’, or called it a “blockbuster”, but at least it shows the system works. If you fancy being one of the 50 people selected to join the mission, you have until 4 Apr to apply here.
