Right, so DAVIDS is someone from Canada. What their name is, I don’t know. It doesn’t really matter, I suppose. The only thing they’re firm about is that “the project is named DAVIDS. Not Davids, and certainly not David’s”. Feel free to try to read some sort of meaning into that, though I think you’d have more fun if you instead joined me in listening to DAVIDS’ first EP, ‘0613EP’.
Out now through your download store or streaming service of choice (for the sake of ease, here’s a Bandcamp link), the EP is a varied mix of pop, with vocals supplied by one time Broken Social Scene member Mitch Bowden, rapper Nilla, and singer-songwriter Terra Lightfoot.
The centrepiece of the release is ‘Dead Walkie’, one of two Bowden-vocaled pieces on the release, which is also its most immediate track, with a Cure-esque bassline and an infectious keyboard melody driving its chorus. Check out the video for that it here:
