Approved: Evenings

I’m writing this very early in the morning but, somewhat ironically, it turns out the best music to soundtrack this time of day is Evenings.
The solo instrumental project of Virginia resident Nathan Broaddus appeared quietly online earlier this year. He made his debut EP, ‘North Dorm’, available as a free download in July, and ever since then a rapidly growing number of people have fallen over themselves to lavish praise upon him, including the folks behind new London-based indie label Double Denim, who signed him up for a seven-inch just a month later.
Evenings’ sleepy electronic instrumentals float out of your speakers, with layered samples and guitars coming together over smartly produced percussion tracks. ‘Friend [Lover]’ and the EP’s opening track, ‘Still Young’, are particularly good, and suggest that Broaddus has more than just a handful of tracks up his sleeve. Head over to the Evenings Bandcamp page now to download ‘North Dorm’ for free.
