Approved: Francis Neve – Calls
By Andy Malt | Published on Monday 26 November 2012
By day Steven Carr is a producer, who lately has been working particularly with the Luv Luv Luv label. By night he is a live sound engineer for artists such as Marina And The Diamonds, Spector and Katherine Jenkins. Somewhere alongside all that, he also finds time to be singer-songwriter Francis Neve.
As Neve, Carr released his debut album, ‘The Second Time We First Met’, in 2010 through FRR, a collection of atmospheric, guitar-driven pop songs, which, albeit brief with only seven tracks, showed a man with a definite talent for songwriting. Late last year he returned with new single ‘Dance Around The Fire’, but we’ve had to wait almost twelve months for the follow-up, ‘Calls’, which is released today.
Featuring a far more electronic sound that his previous work, ‘Calls’ catches Carr at his most poppy. Its infectious guitar sound is entwined perfectly with a whole range of other satisfying sounds, topped off by his absorbing vocals.
