Approved: Grandamme

A new project that brings together solo artists Claudia Kane and Bastien Keb, Grandamme are set to release their debut album, ‘Holy Mountain’, at the end of this month, with dreamlike songs that span everything from 80s synths – ‘Prelude’ – to soulful ballads – ‘Nirvana’.
Latest single ‘Forever’ falls more towards the latter of those camps, sounding something like ghosts playing in a grand French ballroom. The song hangs back behind the beat, ensuring plenty of space for vocal performances that feel fully in the moment.
“We always want to identify what is forever in our lives and what is not”, says Kane. “The song captures a moment when someone you love breaks the illusion with a single sentence and you just want the ground to swallow you up. It is sarcastic, passive-aggressive and playful in parts, finding the humour in that moment of chaos”.
Of their music as a whole, Keb adds: “I generally got lost in movies and music as a teenager, which is where all my influences come from. Ideally, I want them to cry. Whilst dancing”.
‘Holy Mountain’ is out on 30 Sep. Listen to ‘Forever’ here:
