Gwilym Gold

Golden Silvers singer-gone-solo Gwilym Gold’s debut LP ‘Tender Metal’ has so far, since its strictly-digital release at the start of the month, only been available via various Apple devices. Having realised that that’s no good to anyone who – like me – doesn’t own an Apple device, a considerate Gold has now consented to share it a little wider – for twelve hours only – via ‘live audio platform’ Mixlr.

It’ll be playing over and over today between 12pm and midnight, but “renewing” itself each time so that each version sounds different to the last, with an infinite number of variations possible. This is thanks to ‘Bronze’, the previously reported app Gold has designed and which he talks about here.

Okay so I’ll be honest… as it’s not yet midday as I write this, I haven’t heard ‘Tender Metal’, which all but cancels out my capacity to approve it. But if it’s anything like Gold’s bloodless hymn-to-rough-trade ‘Lust For Sale’, or the frail, pared-back ‘Faithless Arms’ (seen here played live at the Boiler Room), I think I’ll like it considerably.

So assuming it’s after 12pm when you read this, listen to ‘Tender Metals’ as many times as you like (until midnight) here:
