Karin Park

Karin Park released her debut album, ‘Superworldunknown’, in Norway in 2003, it’s title track going on to become a big hit in the country. However, in the intervening years, the chirpy, upbeat singer-songwriter pop sound of that first album has morphed into something much darker and more experimental.

The turning point was her third long player, 2009’s ‘Ashes To Gold’, a collaboration with Datarock’s Fredrik Saroea that put Park’s striking and versatile voice against more electronic and less mainstream pop production. Last year, moving between England and her native Sweden, she began working on a new album with her brother David, which takes her sound further underground.

Now signed to State Of The Eye, the first single to be released from Park’s as-yet-unnamed fourth long player is ‘Tiger Dreams’, the video for which you can watch below. Produced by Christoffer Berg (Fever Ray, The Knife), the track takes influence from dubstep, but retains a very Scandinavian feel. More single releases are due over the next few months, with the album scheduled for February.

You can also catch her live later this month when she plays Nordic showcase night Ja Ja Ja at The Lexington in London on 27 Oct, with Battlekat and Johnossi.
