CMU Approved
Approved: Luwten
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 18 April 2017
The latest project from Tessa Douwstra – also of Orlando and Wooden Saints – Luwten released their debut single, ‘Go Honey’, back in January. Then followed the always tense wait to see if that one great single was a fluke, or if there might be more where it came from. Four months later, thankfully, ‘Indifference’ keeps the quality high.
A song that delicately creeps, ‘Indifference’ is laced with bursts of excitement from sparingly applied guitars. Douwstra’s vocals nonetheless maintain the cool tone throughout, never giving in to the desire to try and make a break for it like those guitars. It’s a little more laid back than ‘Go Honey’ overall, relaxing into a sound that is worth shouting about.
