Lylo

After a number of years spent honing their sound on the Glasgow scene, Lylo are making a break for the wider world this year. With a few well-crafted DIY releases to their name, they’ve now signed to El Rancho to release new album ‘Post Era’ later this year. The first track to come from it is the genre-mashing wonder of ‘You Have Your Father’s Eyes’.

The song is such a mash of styles that it’s hard to know where to start. There’s a bit of 80s soft rock, some soul, post-punk, dream-pop and more, all effortlessly balanced like doing this sort of thing is perfectly normal. Some heavily processed guitar and synth sounds add to the warmly destabilising effect of the recording, leaving it to hold you steady in its grasp.

The band head out on a UK tour this week, with two London shows on the cards – The Shacklewell Arms on 23 Mar and The Waiting Room on 5 Apr.
