Rainer

You may have previously come across Rebekah Raa as vocalist in now defunct band Stricken City, and producer Casually Here as, um, producer Casually Here. And now here you are coming across them together as Rainer. Unless you already knew them as Rainer. Let’s assume you didn’t.

Anyway, over the course of this year Rainer have pushed two tracks up onto the internet in the form of ‘Silence’ and ‘Swallow’. Now, they are preparing to release their debut single proper, ‘Girls’, through ASL Records. Out on 9 Sep, it will come out digitally and in the form of 300 seven-inches.

Slightly less floaty in sound than those previous two tracks, though still pretty floaty, ‘Girls’ is held together by Raa’s entrancing voice, as she sings the hook, “The girls are going mad” over Casually Here’s pop production, with swells of strings that eventually give way to dub-influenced stabs of synth and percussion that skitters underneath like spiders.
