The Deer Tracks

‘Lazarus’, the second single from new Deer Tracks album ‘The Archer Trilogy Part 3’, continues where its predecessor ‘W’ left off.

And it’s delightful, with subtle glitches, sweeping strings, hands-in-the-air rave synths and clattering percussion that could be anything from gunshots to lightening bolts hitting the top of a glacier. Imbued with a sense of playfulness, it’s topped with an effortlessly emotive vocal from Elin Lindfors which reminds you of the melodic sensibility at the heart of the group’s adventures.

Whilst some might lament the absence of guitars and the move to a more electronic sound, redolent of a less morose and more elfin version of The Knife (as opposed to the more organic Sigur Rós-remixed-by-Múm-in-a-blizzard tracks of debut album ‘Aurora’), all the best groups evolve their sound as they go on a sonic, and no doubt physical and metaphorical, journey as their career develops.

‘The Archer Trilogy Part 3’ is out now, and the balloon-tastic video for ‘Lazarus’ is available on YouTube for your viewing pleasure here:
