Approved: The Orb 25th Anniversary Tour
By Paul Vig | Published on Friday 18 October 2013
The Orb are back and kick off their 25th anniversary shows in London this weekend.
Initially formed by Alex Paterson and the KLF’s Jimmy Cauty in 1988 of course, this outfit has since involved various other collaborators after springing to prominence with 1989’s ‘A Huge Ever-Growing Pulsating Brain Which Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld’. And while ‘Little Fluffy Clouds’ remains their biggest hit, these guys have created so much other great music over the years.
Saturday’s live show promises to be an explosive melting pot of all the dance music genres including ambient, techno, dub, house and more. Supported by their long term pals and collaborators System 7, who have just released their ‘Phoenix Rising’ album, this show should be a testament to the longevity of a truly original British musical talent. And hopefully we’ll get to witness some of the original euphoric spirit which turned acid house into a massive youth revolution.
The Orb 25th Anniversary Tour, Saturday 19 Oct, The Forum, Kentish Town, NW5, 10pm-4am, tickets available via this link.
