Tuvaband

Tuva Hellum Marschhäuser released her debut album as Tuvaband – ‘Soft Drop’ – last year. It was a beautifully sparse collection of sombre songs, which closed by drawing No Doubt’s ‘Just A Girl’ into its orbit. Now she is preparing to return with the follow-up, ‘I Entered The Void’, expanding out her sonic palette while losing nothing of her appeal in the process.

The new album’s first single and title track was released last month. Now follows ‘He Said Me Too’, which flows on a gently undulating guitar line and a snare drum that snaps into a deep well of reverb. Lyrically, she explains, the song explores the aftermath of war, in which “in a country where one group is oppressed, very often you see that group later go to war against the group that offended”, a situation she finds “interesting, but also scary and sad”.

‘I Entered The Void’ the album is out on 27 Nov. You can catch Tuvaband live at The Lexington in London on 5 Feb next year. Listen to ‘He Said Me Too’ here.
