Club Tip CMU Approved

Approved: Vigsy’s New Year Tips

By | Published on Friday 17 December 2010

So, as we’ve reached the final Club Tip of the year, it’s time for me to select the best New Year’s Eve parties going on. This year I’ve found some real corkers that’ll bring you into 2011 nicely; a mix of a Caribbean blow-out, epic techno basement party, and some live future disco for you to choose from. And I guess that’s the only problem, you’re going to have to choose. Here we go…

1. Sancho Panza presents One/One/OneOne
Notting Hill Carnival stalwarts Sancho Panza throw a New Years bash in two arches and a lush chill out area in a secret intimate Clerkenwell venue. Having partied in boats, warehouses and on the street of late, these guys know how to transform any space into a dream of a night, and no expense has been spared here with ten of the best underground quality DJs on offer, Funktion One sound rigs and a proper mix of house, disco, dub, roots, and reggae to boot.  Serving up Clerkenwell caipirinhas to Sancho sea breezes, this night may become a little blurry!

Sancho Panza presents One/One/OneOne, Clerkenwell, 9pm-7am, £20, tickets here.

2. Warm at CAMP
Warm are joining forces with Phonica Records this New Year’s Eve to take over CAMP on City Road across two floors, with a monster line up consisting of Mathew Jonson (live), Ame (live), Move D, Mark E, Gerd Janson and Tim Goldsworthy, with the Warm residents and Phonica DJs.

Warm at CAMP, City Road, London, 10pm-8am, £20/25/30, tickets here.

3. DJ Joey Negro and The Sunburst Band at The Jazz Café
Sadly the Jazz Café doesn’t have the traditional Roy Ayers showcase this NYE, but hey there is a great alternative. After a summer of sell out shows, and with three albums packed full of modern soul classics plus a loyal set of followers, Joey Negro (aka Dave Lee) brings his Sunburst Band into the limelight, with support from Nathan Watson. After the gig a Sunburst Band-hosted New Year party kicks in, with a DJ set from Joey Negro that will take you into 2011 like there’s no tomorrow, so prepare to dance and groove to future disco….

Joey Negro & The Sunburst Band, Jazz Café, 5 Parkway, London, 7pm till late, £40 adv, tickets here.

PS… If you’re looking for something this weekend, check out Pump Up The Volume’s Christmas Party this Saturday. It’ll be a crazy night of retro 90s grooves and moves at the basement bar that is Visions in Dalston with Severino from Horse Meat Disco, Sophie Lloyd and Naomiii. It’s going to be rammed, so get there early. More info from www.pump-up-the-volume.com
