Avril Lavigne blames label for album release delays

Avril Lavigne’s fourth studio album is ready, though no release date has been currently set because her label, Sony’s RCA, is dragging its feet. Or so says Lavigne, who claims the follow up to 2007’s ‘The Best Damn Thing’ has been ready for over a year now but Sony is yet to release it because the people there don’t really dig it. Or something like that.

In a letter to her fans, the singer wrote this week: “This has been a really difficult record for me to create and to release. Not only is this the most meaningful and special record I have written, it is sincere, honest and close to my heart. [But] for the first time I experienced a bunch of bureaucratic BS … people do their best work when they are doing what they want, love and is natural for them, not when you are forcing them to be something that they are not.”

Yeah, Avril, perhaps the rather fine management agency you dropped in 2008 did quite a bit more work for you that you previously realised? Oh well, at least Ms Lavigne seems to have been given a release date for the first single from her next long player, ‘What The Hell’, which she says will be out in January.
