Birds Eye View launches 2011 programme
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 16 February 2011
The programme for the seventh annual Birds Eye View Film Festival is out. This London fest celebrates the best and brightest in international female filmmaking talent, and this year it takes place from 7-18 Mar on London’s Southbank.
There’s a great music programme, as usual. First up there’s the Sounds & Silents programme, where musicians are commissioned to compose scores for classic silent films. Taking part this year will be Imogen Heap, Micachu, and Arista Hawkes of Guillemots.
Elsewhere, music will meet cinema in the “ultimate mix-tape” that is Music Loves Video, which is introduced by Kate Nash this year and features a new Patrick Wolf short and the latest audiovisual treat from MTV Award-winning Floria Sigismondi.
The festival will also screen the UK premiere of ‘The Night Catches Us’, a Sundance-nominated drama set amidst the racial turmoil of 1976 Philadelphia, for which The Roots provide an original soundtrack.
