Bloom.fm announces Merlin deal
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 6 August 2013
Streaming service Bloom.fm, which officially launched earlier this year offering subscriptions for as little as £1 per month, has announced a deal with digital rights agency Merlin, bringing many of the major independent labels to its catalogue and boosting it to over 22 million tracks.
Bloom.fm CEO Oleg Fomenko told CMU: “We designed Bloom.fm to be affordable, simple and beautiful. Reaching over 250,000 registered users so quickly demonstrates Bloom.fm’s mass-market potential and we can’t wait to see what happens when we’re available on Android and laptops. We’re delighted to have Merlin onboard to further build our independent music catalogue and take our library to over 22 million tracks”.
Merlin’s CEO Charles Caldas added: “We are pleased to have concluded this agreement with Bloom.fm for their innovative service and I am sure that Bloom’s users will enjoy the access to the world’s most significant independent labels and distributors. We wish them the best of luck with their continued expansion”.
