Boosey & Hawkes take over sync for EMI’s Blue Note

Classical music publisher Boosey & Hawkes has further expanded its cross-genre sync rights business by entering into a deal with EMI’s jazz imprint Blue Note Records. The deal will see B&H represent Blue Note’s impressive catalogue, which includes recordings by the likes of John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock, Dexter Gordon and Miles Davis, in the sync rights domain.
EMI Exec VP Of Brand Partnerships Cynthia Sexton says this: “We knew Blue Note’s 70th anniversary this year represented a unique opportunity for synchronization of the label’s legendary recordings. Boosey & Hawkes has a great track record and unique specialization in the jazz genre for synch, and we are pleased to have them give the Blue Note repertoire a full-court press approach”.
