Box TV and Spotify have announced a new partnership to create what they are referring to as the ‘Official Streaming’ chart. Though don’t confuse that with the Official Streaming Chart compiled by the Official Charts Company, which features more data than just a few (well, quite a lot of) numbers provided by Spotify.

Actually, the official title of this ‘official chart’ is ‘The Official Box+ Streaming Chart’. So while you’re not confusing it with the official Official Streaming Chart, you should probably be careful not to confuse it with the Unofficial Box+ Streaming Chart. Just remember that the unofficial official chart is the one with the TV show, the official official chart is the one on the Official Charts Company website, and the official unofficial chart is the one I just made up.

Talking all (well, not all) of this up, Box TV Music Director Mark Adams told CMU: “The popularity of music streaming has grown significantly over the past eighteen months and is widely regarded as the new currency for our 16-34 audience and music industry alike. By partnering with Spotify we will deliver the first ‘Official Streaming’ chart on music TV”.

Peter De Bruin, Head of Media Partnerships at Spotify, added: “We are really excited to be partnering with Box TV to bring the Spotify chart to the small screen for the first time. The Spotify chart gives the most accurate possible reflection of what music fans are really listening to and loving each week”.

The show will air weekly at 6.30pm on Box TV’s 4 Music channel from Monday 14 Apr. Officially.
