Chart update – w/c 23 Aug 2010

The club can’t handle Flo Rida – that has been well established – but it seems the number one position can’t handle him either, as it’s spat him back down to number three after just one week. Replacing him are Roll Deep, with their second number one single in a row, having fought a close battle with Eminem and Rihanna’s ‘Love The Way You Lie’, which is at number two.

As well as being the highest new entry in the chart, Roll Deep’s ‘Green Light’ is also the only new entry in the top ten, as Chase & Status just missed out, getting to number eleven with ‘Let You Go’. After them, Inna comes in at fourteen with ‘Amazing’, leaping up from last week’s 176, One Night Only are in at 23 with ‘Say You Don’t Want It’ (I don’t). Mr Hudson and Caspa’s ‘Love Never Dies’ just misses out on the top 40, coming in at 42. However, I wouldn’t write it off just yet; I’m expecting to see a rise to the top ten in the next week.

In the album chart, Eminem continues to yo-yo back and forth from the number one position. Having reclaimed it again from Arcade Fire last week, he rapper has been knocked back down to number two by Iron Maiden, with their fifteenth studio album, ‘The Final Frontier’. Below those two, The Saturdays’ new mini-album ‘Headlines’ comes up brand new at three, while The Hoosiers are new at ten, with ‘The Illusion Of Safety’.

Also new in the top 40 this week are David Gray with ‘Foundling’ at eighteen, Isobel Cameron & Mark Lanegan at 29 with ‘Hawk’, and former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows at 38 with his debut solo album as I Am Arrows, ‘Sun Comes Up Again’, at 38. Also re-entering the chart are Bullet For My Valentine, whose ‘Fever’ album is at 34 this week, up from 91.

The trampoline Eminem seems to have got himself onto was placed underneath him by The Official Charts Company
