CMU Insights: Find out what happens to the digital dollars at latest CMU masterclass
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 30 January 2019
Following the launch last week of the latest Digital Dollar guide from the Music Managers Forum and CMU Insights, next week we present the latest edition of the ‘Dissecting The Digital Dollar’ masterclass.
This is based on the core ‘Digital Dollar’ book, and in one afternoon provides an overview of the streaming music business today and an explanation of how the music industry’s deals with a Spotify-type service work, and therefore how everyone gets paid each month. Along the way you will learn some copyright law and some basics about record contracts, publishing contracts and collective licensing, which will help you understand it all.
We’ll also give you a sneak preview of the very latest ‘Digital Dollar’ research looking in much more detail at how songwriter royalties are processed each month. This new research was initially previewed to MMF members last week and will be explained in detail in another ‘Digital Dollar’ guide later this year.
The ‘Digital Dollar’ masterclass takes place at the London HQ of Lewis Silkin on Monday 4 Feb at 2pm. Tickets are on sale for the ‘Digital Dollar’ masterclass right now at just £79.
