CMU Insights: Get up to speed on all the key copyright litigation
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 30 October 2019
It’s been a busy few months in the American pop courts, with Lizzo, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Juice WRLD, Led Zeppelin and Ryan Tedder all involved in high profile legal battles over the ownership of songs they were involved in making.
In some cases they are in dispute with former collaborators. In others, the litigation has been filed by another artist who accuses them of infringing earlier works. All in all, it can be very hard to keep up.
Which is why we’ll be including a user-friendly catch up on all these cases, and the legal principles they centre on, as part of the Key Developments In Music Rights masterclass that is taking place in London next week.
This half-day session will also help you get up to speed on everything you need to know about the European Copyright Directive, the US Music Modernization Act and recent termination right cases.
It’s a great session for anyone involved in the creation, ownership, monetisation, exploitation, management or administration of song or recording copyrights. It takes place on Wednesday 6 Nov at the London HQ of Lewis Silkin. Info and tickets here.
