Sŵn Festival

Don’t forget that CMU is teaming up with Cardiff’s Sŵn Festival later this month to present two days of sessions for music makers and the wider music community alongside the 2019 edition of the city-centre music festival. The daytime events take place on 17 and 18 Oct, hosted by the University Of South Wales and curated by CMU.

On the Thursday, 17 Oct, CMU:DIY will present a series of workshops for early-career artists and those at the start of their music careers. These practical sessions will put the spotlight on gigging, streaming, marketing and direct-to-fan, plus the top five fuck ups music people often make, and how to avoid them.

On the Friday, there will be a series of talks and conversations about how new artists can build a business around their music, and how the music industry – locally, nationally and globally – can better support new talent. This will include an introduction to CMU’s Pathways Into Music research work that is mapping music careers, music education and local music industries across the UK.

Tickets are free to both the workshops and the conference sessions. Check out the topics and access your free tickets here. And look out for details on all the speakers very soon.
