CMU Insights: Understand how streaming pays
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 11 September 2019
With user-centric royalty distribution in the spotlight today thanks to Deezer, once again the music industry is debating the complex way in which streaming services pay labels, publishers, artists and songwriters. Are you keeping up with it all?
Next month CMU Insights will once again present the ‘Dissecting The Digital Dollar’ masterclass. Based on the five years of research CMU has undertaken for the UK’s Music Manager’s Forum, this session explains in one afternoon how digital licensing deals are structured and how streaming royalties are paid each month.
It also provides an easy-access guide to the copyright law, music industry conventions and collective licensing rules that have all impacted on the way streaming works, and explains some of the key ongoing debates, including the case for user-centric payments.
It all takes place at the London HQ of Lewis Silkin from 2.00-5.30pm on Tuesday 8 Oct. Tickets are available now for just £80 plus VAT – click here for information.
