Other notable announcements and developments today…

• BBC Sound Of 2003 winner 50 Cent has reportedly requested that damages he was ordered to pay for leaking a sex tape be reduced.

• That there Bicycle Music Company has announced an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with the estate of George Harrison which covers some of his Beatles songs, solo work and his contributions to The Traveling Wilburys. Bicycle boss Jake Wisely “could never have imagined” this. Good job the deal’s not with the John Lennon estate.

• New York-based Round Hill Music has acquired the Sony-released recordings of The Offspring and career-spanning publishing rights in a deal said to be worth a neat $35 million. Which is almost as pretty fly for a white guy as it is predictable to wrap up this one liner by saying so.

• Ron Cerrito has been appointed as General Manager of Kobalt’s label services business in the US. The record industry veteran has had promotions and marketing roles at the majors and ran the in-house label of Prospect Park Management. Yeah, that Ron Cerrito.

• Bandcamp is trying to muscle in on SoundCloud’s position as the chief provider of exclusive streams to media by allowing artists to offer locked embeds to websites, so that other websites can’t nick em and embed them and say “woo, we got the exclusive too, suckers”.

• It’s just been spotted that Radiohead incorporated a new company called Dawn Chorus back in October, and we all know what that means don’t we? Yep, Thom Yorke’s moving into the breakfast foods business. Which is very exciting indeed. Either that or there’s a new Radiohead album incoming. Fingers crossed for the breakfast foods though.

• That Beyonce is going to perform with Coldplay during the Super Bowl half time show next month. She headlined it herself in 2013, of course.

• Shortly before his death, Lemmy filmed an advert for a Finnish dairy company. The ad agency behind it has now turned it into a tribute video.

Zayn Malik is not censoring himself anymore.
