Young Fathers

Other notable announcements and developments today…

• Scotland’s Young Fathers have stealth-released ‘Soon Come Soon’, a track not (I repeat, not) off of their Mercury Prize-winning latest LP ‘Dead’. Stream it here.

• Disclaimer: this is a bit old now, by THREE WHOLE DAYS. Anyway, Frank Ocean released a bit of a relatively short (at the moment) track titled ‘Memrise’ last Friday. He shared the lyrics to it, too, not on paper, but on Tumblr. That’s a joke about one of the lines in the song. Anyway I give up. Listen to ‘Memrise’ now.

• Bastille did a collaborative track ‘featuring’ Haim, which is prised off of their mixtape (which possibly isn’t really a mixtape in that most mixtapes are free, and it isn’t) ‘VS (Other People’s Heartache Pt III)’. The track’s title is ‘Bite Down’. Try not to spit it out too quickly as you listen to it, NOW.

• That Gary Barlow, eh? He’s supposed to be promoting the new Take That album that’s out today, but last week he slipped off to America to sing a song from ‘Finding Neverland’, the Broadway musical he’s involved in. I mean, look at him.

• Japanese dance duo Capsule – featuring the CMU lauded Yasutaka Nakata – have announced that they will release a new album, titled ‘Wave Runner’, on 18 Feb 2015. Here’s a short clip showing the making of the cover art and featuring a little bit of music.

• Arctic Monkeys have warned fans not to buy tickets to any shows they see advertised, because they’re not booked in to play any. None. Not even one. Although I’m not sure they were quite clear enough about that in their warning tweet last week.

• Wolf Alice won the first ever Dice Live Award last week. What does that mean? Only that they’re now officially the best live band in Britain. You’d probably better book tickets to see them on tour next year then. And that, I believe, is something that booking fee free ticketing company Dice can help you with.
