CMU+TGE

The Great Escape 2019 is almost upon us, with thousands of music industry people from all over the world due in Brighton next week for four days of talking, learning, networking and great new music. Don’t forget that CMU presents three full-day conferences for TGE delegates, each packed with insight, research, case studies and interviews, and taking place in the main room at TGE’s new conference home, Jury’s Inn Waterfront.

The first of those conferences kicks off the entire TGE proceedings at 10am next Wednesday morning. The CMU+TGE Music Education Conference is for every employer in the music industry, everyone involved in music education in all its forms, and anyone interested in ensuring a diverse, informed and fully supported talent pipeline for the music industry in the decade ahead. The second conference on Thursday will provide a concise guide to all the work CMU has been doing over the last five years with the Music Managers Forum to demystify the streaming business. Along the way, we will publish the latest ‘Digital Dollar’ guide explaining why songwriters are not getting all the digital dollars they are due. It’s a fact-packed day for anyone who wants to fully understand the inner workings of the streaming business. And for any artist or songwriter that wants to get properly paid when their music is played online. Click here for some background and click here for the full schedule.

The third conference on Friday puts the spotlight on music marketing, and especially how music marketing is evolving with the shift to streams. We’ll explore all the key elements of the music marketing toolkit and then look at how the music industry is adapting as the objectives, messages and timings of campaigns change. Each of the CMU+TGE conferences conclude with a keynote in-conversation. CMU’s Chris Cooke will be talking to musical genius Chilly Gonzales on Wednesday, to Downtown Music chief Justin Kalifowitz on Thursday, and Sony Music’s Cassandra Gracey on Friday. The in conversations happen just after 4pm in the main conference room at Jury’s Inn Waterfront. A few tickets are still available – for just the music education day, or for the full TGE Conference, or for the entire conference and festival. See you there!
