Expansive US music firm Concord Bicycle Music has announced an alliance with American independent Razor & Tie, which is perhaps best known for its ‘Kidz Bop’ compilations for children.

As a result of the deal a new company will be formed called Razor & Tie Enterprises in which Concord Bicycle will have a “significant stake”. Concord Bicycle will also administer Razor & Tie’s publishing interests, and “provide strategic resources and support the further expansion of the ‘Kidz Bop’ brand”. Good times.

Confirming the deal, Razor & Tie co-founders Cliff Chenfeld and Craig Balsam said in a joint statement: “We are thrilled about our new venture with Scott and his outstanding team at Concord Bicycle Music. This partnership maintains our independence and autonomy and provides us with the strategic support necessary to take Razor & Tie and ‘Kidz Bop’ to a completely different level. We are energised and ready for the challenge”.

Meanwhile Concord Bicycle Music CEO Scott Pascucci added: “I have known and respected Cliff and Craig for almost 25 years. They have shown remarkable focus and creativity in building Razor & Tie into the company that it is today. We are excited to be their partner as they continue to grow and expand the company”.
