Deadmau5′ LP title < every LP title ever

DJ/producer Joel Zimmerman, aka dance lab-rat Deadmau5, has taken his head out of his Mau5 hole for a short while and announced an LP. And it’s a double one! So that’s twice the mau5, if you think about it. Or 25 times the mau5, since it contains 25 tracks. Both are valid.

Anywayyy, in the great, great tradition of empty and meaningless Deadmau5 LP titles (see ‘> album title goes here <‘, ‘Random Album Title’ and my all-time fave, ‘4×4=12’) its title is this: ‘while(1<2)’.

Deadmau5 says: “It’s a good mix of shit I want to do versus shit people want to hear or what they would expect. It’s a good balance. It’s not like, ‘Oh, it’s such a departure. He’s doing smooth jazz'”.

Okay, I’m with it so far. A 50/50 split of ‘safe’ shit and more innovative shit. And no smooth jazz. Gotcha. So how did it all start?

“It was”, adds Zimmerman, “when I was working on some live stuff, setlists for shows and stuff like that, and it just must have been a couple of tracks that sounded pretty good stitched together end to start and I thought, ‘Well, if I ever do an album or compile this into some kind of album this has got to be that part of the order for that”. And I just kind of took everything and played musical Tetris with it”.

Brilliant! ‘while(1<2)’ will have a digital release first on 17 Jun, followed by a physical one on 23 Jun. Preview a measly little bit of its lead track, ‘Avaritia’, here:
