And Finally
Diddy does Downton
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 16 May 2013
I assume you’re aware of the TV show ‘Downton Abbey’. I’ve never seen it myself, but I think it’s like ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’, or something. Anyway, it’s about rich people and their servants in the olden days. Currently filming its fourth series, the show’s makers recently announced the casting of the show’s first black character.
The actor playing the part was announced as actor Gary Carr, but this was apparently a red herring. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs yesterday revealed that it was in fact he who would play the role. After much teasing, he eventually tweeted: “MY BIG NEWS: So happy to announce that I’m a series regular on ‘DOWNTON ABBEY’ – my favourite show – and I’ll be debuting a sneak peek tonight!”
The internet was alive with chatter about this. As unlikely as it seemed, a lot of people took it at face value – even after the show’s US broadcaster PBS had issued a statement saying that it was definitely “not true”. And they were right to ignore PBS, because it definitely is true. Definitely, definitely. If it’s not, then how do you explain this video of Diddy right there in Downton Abbey?
