Dr Martens has appointed the DIY magazine and website as its exclusive media partner and tour organiser for the previously reported #STANDFORSOMETHING venture, in a deal put together by DIY publisher and youth advertising firm Sonic Media.

Confirming the partnership, Dr Martens Marketing Manager Daniel Freeland told CMU: “We were looking for a partner that really understood our audience and the bands they would connect with. We are not just looking to create memorable events, but an experience that that brings our new #STANDFORSOMETHING campaign to life. The DIY team really impressed us with their knowledge of the music market and together with the resources, innovative media technologies, their organisational ability and cross platform reach, we are very confident they will be the ideal partner to deliver the tour and integrate our key messages”.

Meanwhile DIY Editor Stephen Ackroyd added: “Dr Martens and DIY will be hosting five gigs in five cities around the UK and the premise is simple: the country’s most rousing live acts in tiny venues, giving music lovers the chance to catch their favourite acts up close and personal. We believe the way for Dr Martens to credibly engage with fans is to give them an experience to remember. DIY will be continuously reporting from September to the end of November through our monthly magazine, which is now also distributed in all Dr Martens stores, our iPad and iPhone Weekly, the website and associated social media channels”.
