Drake fans go crazy on streets of New York

Perhaps keen to show those Justin Bieber fans that they can get out of control too, fans of Canadian actor-turned-rapper Drake went a little bit crazy yesterday when a free gig was cancelled at the last minute in New York. Though Hanson were also due to play. Perhaps it was the Hanson fans who threw bottles and plant pots at each other. Is taking a plant pot to a gig something Hanson fans are doing these days?

Anyway, Drake and Hanson were due to play at NYC’s South Street Seaport yesterday at 6pm. It seems organisers were expecting 10,000 people to show up but got a lot more than that, some reports estimate up to 25,000. With concerns of over crowding the free show was delayed, which just pissed off the fans, some of whom had been waiting since midday. As they got a little bit rowdy, police decided to call off the show at 7.15pm, before either Hanson or Drake had taken to the stage.

Clearly under the impression the rowdy plant pot throwing fans were his and not Hanson’s, Drake told AllHipHop.com last night: “I am humbled by the crowd that showed up in support of my performance and the release of ‘Thank Me Later’. I love performing for my fans, but unfortunately the show was cancelled by the NYPD due to overcrowding, leaving me without the chance to give my fans a real show”.
