Eddy Says
Eddy Says: Dub Pistols album launch party
By Eddy Temple-Morris | Published on Tuesday 1 May 2012
Losers, the band formed by Eddy and former Cooper Temple Clause guitarist Tom Bellamy, are currently putting the finishing touches to their second album (we’ve heard demos, it’s going to be amazing). Now bolstered by former yourcodenameis:milo vocalist Paul Mullen and ex-Oceansize drummer Mark Heron, they began preparing the world for their full scale return with three gigs last week, two supporting Sunshine Underground and a headline slot at Club NME in London. This all means that the Eddy Says column is on a semi-break at the moment, but this week Eddy has a special offer for a show he’s organising in May to make up for it.
Last week was spent rehearsing for and playing three Losers shows in London and Brighton (thanks to all of you who came down and supported us, the gigs were all brilliant!). All this means I haven’t had time to put pen to paper properly lately, but hopefully this will make up for it a little: I’ve arranged for you to get more than 50% off a brilliant night at my local venue, Electric Brixton, on 11 May.
Rather than do monthly Remix Nights, for the moment I’m just doing one-off parties with friends, and this is one of them. Essentially it’s a Remix All-nighter, but to celebrate the launch of Dub Pistols’ new album. Head Pistol Barry Ashworth and I have put this bill together ourselves and invited some good mates to play. It will, I guarantee, be one of the nights of the year for anyone who listens to or likes The Remix on Xfm.
Dub Pistols are playing live, of course, as is High Rankin – I’m really looking forward to seeing him preview his live Secret Garden Party line-up. Rednek will do his massive dubstep ting, East London legends Shut Up N Dance will be lured south and the award winning Vinyl Touch mob will be in full effect too. Speaking of legends, Barry’s label boss, and our mutual friend, Rob Da Bank will be there too, to help the party swing a little more.
Normally it’s £15 to get in but I’ve arranged a special deal for The Remix massive, £6 each. This deal is for you and you only – no one else is being offered this.
Come join the party, you know that if Dub Pistols are involved, it’ll be a smasher. To claim you place, just contact me on Twitter or Facebook.
All the best,
Eddy x
