So, all that stuff with Fabric. It’s all fine. The London club has now emerged from its three-day blackout to announce the first of 20 special nights to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

Fabric’s social media accounts and website were wiped earlier this week and – to the alarm of some passers by – the physical club was boarded up too. Subsequently two large white arrows were painted on the black boards around the venue pointing to a message hinting of something to come.

Now the club has finally revealed what’s going on, announcing this morning that it will be hosting a special series of nights between now and October to mark the end of its second decade in business.

“Many of you will be wondering what this means, why we boarded up and repainted parts of the club and why we deleted our online presence this week”, reads a statement. “In 2019 we celebrate our 20th anniversary, and while to many this would present an opportunity to reflect on the past, we see it as an important opportunity to look to the future”.

It continues: “Since opening our doors for the first time in 1999 we have always put our focus on running a space that would become a home for expression and creativity in London. Artists and dancers from across the globe have descended our staircases and established our position as both a local dance spot and international melting pot. As we enter our 20th year, we’ll be celebrating our anniversary by refreshing and building upon everything that’s helped us reach where we are today”.

So, yeah, there will be these 20 parties, the first of which will feature extended sets from Lee Burridge, Bonobo, Tale Of Us, Fuse, John Digweed and The Martinez Brothers. That’s not all though. Oh no, don’t be thinking that’s all. Things kick off tonight with a free party, starting at 7pm, where Fabric will introduce two new resident DJs, Anna Wall and Bobby. They will be regulars at the club from today onwards, in addition to founding residents Craig Richards and Terry Francis.

The club has also announced a new mix compilation series, ‘Fabric Presents’, which will come out quarterly and replace the recently retired monthly Fabriclive series. The first edition of ‘Fabric Presents’ will be mixed by Bonobo, with release details still to be announced. Fabriclive is not dead as a brand though, because it will be part of two London festivals this summer.

With more announcements about anniversary shenanigans still to come, the club concludes its statement: “We want to say thank you to everyone that’s been part of this journey over the past two decades. So much of the world surrounding us has changed in this timespan, but your love for us has always been unparalleled. From the celebratory times to our most challenging moments, it’s your support that’s built our legacy”.

Here are the headliners for the first of the 20th anniversary nights:

27 Jan: Lee Burridge (extended set)
24 Feb: Bonobo (four hour set)
24 Mar: Tale Of Us (ten hour set)
7 Apr: Fuse (twelve hour set)
18 Apr: John Digweed (all night long)
