Bestival

Steaming in at the top of today’s FLUU headlines is the Isle Of Wight’s end-of-season HMS Bestival bash, and in particular its new dance arena The Port. A ‘landlocked harbour’ featuring nautical sideshows, LED screens and pyrotechnics, it’ll be captained by DJs Seth Troxler, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Julio Bashmore and Erol Alkan, not to mention brand new Bestival guests like Knife Party, Jaguar Skiills and DJ EZZ.

Head Bestival buccaneer Rob Da Bank says this: “This whole new field is going to be an all night maritime adventure with dirty little rum bars, enticing brothels and sea shanties ringing out from random sailor folk in every corner. It’ll have crazy aerial displays and a bucket load of pyro that will blow your mind, it’s the dance arena to end all dance arenas and it’s gonna go off. If you want to know where the party’s at, it’s at The Port”.

“The party”, with all respect to Rob Da Bank, isn’t only based at Bestival this year, oh no. It’s also going to be at Festival No 6 c/o the Welsh fest’s disco-tastic new additions, Chic, who’ll ‘feat’ Nile Rodgers.

Nile verbalises his excitement at playing the festival thus: “I’ve never been to Portmeirion but it looks like a truly magical place. Chic always love to play somewhere unique and special, especially if we’ve never played there before, so we’re really looking forward to Festival No 6. We’re looking forward to showing Portmeirion that there ain’t no party like a disco party!”

Whilst I can’t argue with that last part, I can present to you a list of festivals to at least rival Nile’s unparalleled “disco party”. And they are:
